The type, quality and preparation of the subfloor have a great influence on the final installation. If the sub floor is not suitable for the installation of Vinyl, necessary measures shall be taken.
If glued, the existing floor covering must be completely removed. There shall be no evidence of fungus and/or insect infestation. Ensure that the sub floor is level and nail down any loose or floating parts. Apply a layer of flat floor or leveling agent on the top to make the sub floor smooth and porous. The sub floor must be porous to have a strong adhesion between the glue and the sub floor.
If installed on a wooden sub floor, the moisture content of the wood shall not exceed 10%. In addition, the underside of the wood subfloor must be completely dry. If there is crawling space under the wooden floor, it must be ventilated. Remove all obstacles and ensure adequate ventilation (at least 4 cm per square meter of floor ² Main ventilation opening). The floor must be covered with plywood of at least 6 mm. Make sure that any obstructions are removed. Shaping shall be done with ring shank nails in grid format, 75 mm girth and 150 mm center.
For floating floors, the sub floor shall be stable and firmly fixed. In addition, it shall not be loose, damaged or laid loosely.
The following floor coverings must be removed: carpet, needle felt, vinyl pad, floating laminate, parquet, etc.
No need to remove: ceramic tiles, PVC, VCT, plywood and parquet floors, fixed boards, etc.
